How Does Futures Grid Operate?

Futures Grid currently supports USDT-margined perpetual futures.

When creating a strategy, simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the required settings. Once configured, the system will automatically execute the grid strategy based on your selected parameters.

What Do I Need to Set When Creating a Futures Grid?

When creating a Futures Grid strategy, you need to configure the following basic parameters:

  • Trading direction: Long or Short
  • Price range: Lower price and upper price
  • Number of grids: Choose the grid quantity and distribution method (Arithmetic or Geometric)
  • Margin amount and leverage
  • Optional settings: Trigger price, take-profit, and stop-loss levels

Based on your selected price range, grid quantity, and distribution method, the system will automatically calculate the corresponding price levels and generate buy and sell limit orders. For detailed explanations of each parameter, please refer to the Futures Grid Parameter Guide.

How Does the Grid Operate?

Assume you select a Long Grid strategy and configure the following settings:

  • Price range: 80,000–85,000 USDT
  • Number of grids: 5
  • Distribution method: Arithmetic

The total price range is 5,000 USDT.

With 5 grids under arithmetic distribution, the system divides the range evenly, creating price intervals of 1,000 USDT. The resulting grid levels are:

80,000

81,000

82,000

83,000

84,000

85,000

Now assume the current BTC price is 82,888 USDT.

Since the price falls between 82,000 and 83,000:

  • The system places a buy order at 82,000
  • And a sell order at 83,000

If the Price Drops to 82,000:

  • The buy order is executed
  • A partial position is opened
  • The system automatically places a new buy order at 81,000 to maintain the grid structure

If the Price Later Rises to 83,000:

  • The sell order is executed
  • A full grid cycle — Buy at 82,000 → Sell at 83,000 — is completed
  • The price difference of one grid interval is realized (before fees)

After each execution, the system continues placing new orders at adjacent grid levels to preserve the grid's structure.

As long as the price continues to fluctuate within the 80,000–85,000 USDT range, the strategy will continue to repeat this cycle automatically.

If the Short direction is selected, the system will place orders in the opposite sequence (sell high and buy back lower).

Under What Conditions Will the Grid Stop?

The strategy will stop opening new positions under the following circumstances:

  • The market price breaks out of the preset price range
  • The take-profit or stop-loss level is triggered
  • The user manually terminates the strategy

Below are examples for clarification.

Example 1: Price Breaks Out of the Range

Assume your settings are:

  • Price range: 80,000–85,000 USDT
  • Number of grids: 5

If the BTC price rises to 86,000 USDT (above the upper limit of 85,000):

  • The strategy stops opening new positions
  • No new buy or sell orders are generated

Previously executed positions will remain open. You may choose to:

  • Adjust the price range
  • Manually terminate the strategy
  • Continue monitoring market conditions

Similarly, if the price falls below 80,000 USDT, the strategy will also stop opening new positions.

Example 2: Take-Profit or Stop-Loss Is Triggered

Assume you set:

  • Take-profit price: 84,500 USDT
  • Stop-loss price: 79,500 USDT

When the latest price reaches:

  • 84,500 USDT (take-profit), or
  • 79,500 USDT (stop-loss),

The system will automatically terminate the grid strategy and manage existing positions according to the predefined rules.

Example 3: Manual Termination

You may manually terminate the strategy at any time during operation by clicking the “Terminate” button:

  • The grid strategy will stop running
  • Remaining positions and pending orders will be handled according to the current settings

Summary of the Operating Logic

The core logic of Futures Grid can be summarized as:

Set price range → Divide into grids → Place orders automatically → Execute trades → Repeat

By systematically capturing recurring price fluctuations within a defined range, the strategy enables disciplined and automated trade execution without continuous manual intervention.
